Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
